I got H1B Visa and 83000 USD dollar petition amount as annual package.I am confused as this amount will be enough to survive there with wife and 7 year old daughter. My wife is working here and together we are earning 50LPA annual. We are settled here by owning house too.Confusion is my wife will not be able to work there on H4 Visa so the kind of life we are living here will not be possible there.Thoughts?Suggestions?Pros and Cons?

If you have had an increase in responsibility to a senior role and also have been training and developing new hires you should absolutely be compensated as such. I would use these two points in your salary review as well as the recent senior vacancy. I am in Western NY with 6 years experience and I’m at around 80k. In my opinion for Dallas regardless of firm size I feel like you should be at at least 65k
Hi! Just figured I would give another salary for comparison. I’m an interior designer at a smaller firm in philly, which I feel is pretty comparable design market to Dallas. I make 75 k and I have 5 years of experience. I am looking into NCIDQ certification and that would mean a pay increase.
Just leave and negotiate a better salary with another firm
I’m in Texas. You should be closer to $75k if not $80k … They’ll try to offer you 10%, honestly I would be looking elsewhere
Your NCIDQ certification is worth an increase in salary just as an architect’s licensure would warrant an increase in salary. The certification plus the additional responsibilities should all the talking points when discussing your value to the firm.
Not sure if this helps but I do specifically healthcare, work in Tampa, have 2 1/2 years experience and make 65k. I do not have my NCIDQ yet, just LEED GA. Working at a big firm.
Please leave and ask for a better salary elsewhere because your current firm will likely give you a 5-7pc raise. I'm in Tennessee with a masters and 3 years experience and get a total compensation of $90k. Interior designers at my firm are paid higher. Don't just go by AIA salary ranges, speak to people about the firms and Job descriptions, market your skills and don't be afraid to negotiate for a higher base pay.
