Hi all,
I joined KPMG around 3 months ago but I am not getting work here. Although, I qualified some project's interview, yet due to some internal reason, they considered someone else, and I again came on bench.
I am unable to figure out what can be done now.
Should I start searching work outside.
(I hardly see any job openings these days)
(sap domain)
How's the resource management here?
(do they lagOff?)
Any inputs will be helpful.
Thanks!
McKinsey & Company I did my final round with McKinsey today, and I I received a rejection call from the partner today. However, he said I did really great and wants to keep in touch with me. He also mentioned that I should reapply in 6 months. Does anyone have any similar experience? Do I have a better chance if I reapply next time?McKinsey & Company

I want to commend you for doing the research and teaching yourself skills that you think will be handy in the field- it’s a great start. Summer is a hard time to be applying for an entry level position- many larger firms hold summer internships that end usually around the start of a new semester August/Sept. You might have more luck applying now that those interns are heading back to classes. I’d also recommend calling or emailing the firms you previously applied to - politely reattach your resume/portfolio and inquire if they have any newly open positions. Checking in sometimes can lead to conversations that didn’t happen before because of bad timing or lagging schedules. If you are open in terms of location, firm size and type of work, search LinkedIn and apply to as many positions as possible. Also, if you are able, contact your school to see if they have any career services for recent grads. You never know what professor or alumni connections could benefit you now or in the future. Good luck!
Cont. My goal is to a become licensed architect.
I also downloaded a trial of BlueBeam an taught myself how to use that too because I saw a lot of job posting required the use of that software so I figured I’d make myself more marketable as a recent graduate with a masters in architecture an try to stand out some from the pack since I haven’t had a lot of internships. It would show I’m a team player and that I take initiative as well I bet on myself.
Where are you looking for jobs? Do you have any specific focus in architecture? Are you interested in doing commercial or residential projects? How your portfolio reflects the work of companies you are applying to. Overall, your portfolio/resume should address this matter. I also recommend reaching small companies directly, send your application via email. You never know if they are hiring. With big companies it is hard to get in and it can take months. Try to look at your local AIA for job listings and in person events.
