Hello, I was working somewhere for a good year and a half as an admin assistant. I recently had an injury NOT work related. I did not have to stop working altogether. I just needed to cut my hours down to part-time till I was able to heal. I had a note from my doctor saying that I have to work part-time for about 4 to 6 which they never took by the way and with that being said, I was either forced to work full-time or resign has anyone ever had this happen ?

Pretty sure that's against ADA and FMLA. Did your healthcare provider speak to you about either of these acts and how it would help protect your job? Really, you should reach out to your HR department. That's your responsibility. If you don't have these things in place, you've hurt yourself.

Yes, I did as I indicated I had a note and all the note needed was to reduce my hours because of back issues that’s all it was. I did speak to the HR department and they basically said it was up to my supervisor and then my supervisor said it was up to HR. Also, as far as FMLA I had asked HR about it but FMLA is only if you’re having a baby or you have a serious soul. Mine would not be considered a serious illness unless it was something like cancer, etc..

A couple questions are you US based and does your company have more than 50 employees? If so they absolutely have to allow you to apply for FMLA, intermittent/reduced schedule FMLA is a thing. If the company is small enough that they don't have to provide FMLA, then ADA accommodations is the way to go. Again, a company can fight that as well if they can argue hardship, but most don't want to deal with that. If they aren't playing along in either case, I'd consult an employment lawyer.

I agree they did bully me. The only thing is that they point out with their job was stressing me out so bad and then dealing with you know the stress of having back issues from you know a minor knee injury, etc. it was just I just wanted to get out of there like I didn’t wanna go another day and I guess I didn’t want to drag it out any longer butI’ve at least I’ve applied for other assistance to back me up in case the unemployment doesn’t work out but I’ve got the proof of unemployment needs that I started with them filing my claim and they told me to keep filing

Hi everyone!! This is exactly the group I've been looking for. I'll be starting my new (and first) consulting job at ZS Associates at the end of the month and I'm so nervous that I'll crash and burn. I'm very proud to be an ENFP, but the flaws that come along with it (distraction, procrastination, disorganization) seem like a recipe for disaster. I'm not sure if I should spend this next month trying to change my habits or if I should just embrace it. Anyway, what advice do you all have?

Happy Wednesday everyone. I'm so excited, I have a recruiter call scheduled with @Meta for Administrative Partner position. I've been in my current employer role for 19 years and I'm nervous as heck. I haven't had to do an interview in so long. Can someone please tell me what to expect with the recruiter call? I'm assuming it will be mostly about the role, my skills and background? Do they ask salary expectations? I have no idea what to say for the salary question. Feedback appreciated. Thanks
