Hello! Looking for some career moves advice. I love A&E, construction, and manufacturing industries. I want to pivot back into industry from PA with long term goal of becoming CFO. Had several interviews for accounting manager for global construction company. Went great but I lack more cost accounting experience. Would taking a sr project accounting position help or take me off track of the long goal? Would taking an accounting manager position in any industry help or not? TIA

I love job costing . I have 30 years in construction and it’s a very important component . I would learn how to do it if I were you . Good luck !

Dumb questions but genuinely curious:

1) Let’s say you’re a recent undergrad candidate with no internships on your resume. What’s the deciding factor that you’re qualified for Advisory vs Tax vs Audit? Is it school, gpa, etc.?

2) Why can’t you switch from Tax to another SL without having to pull strings? I understand that there’s a difference in tax vs book experience but why does the Accounting field gatekeep other SLs? It’s not like we’re incapable of learning other areas.
