So I used to be a prosecutor for 2 and a half years. I will say, I loved the job. I loved wearing the white hat, but because of my own personal situation, without having much family living nearby, I had to find something with more work/life balance for my kids. I found myself working every Sunday, so I really only had one day off a week. I say that because I want to be honest and give you information that helps you make your decision.
I truly did love the job. I had about 23 trials. The trial experience was next to none for sure. I highly recommend it for that alone.
It also helped me get the jobs I obtained after leaving. I became a clerk for the judges I was appearing before, and now I work for the county in which the prosecutor’s office is in.
I was typically putting in 50 hours a week, but sometimes more than that depending on whether I had trial. But something to keep in mind is that the thought is that you will have a very high case load when you begin (misdemeanors) and eventually, you will have less cases as you advance into the specialized areas (violenta crimes, sex crimes, homicide, etc.). It’s worth it in my opinion.
It helps very much, thank you!
