I don’t learn from trainings, I learn from doing hard things, observing my mentors, and tackling new and challenging problems.
Most "trainings" at EY are really just instructional webcasts. Where they talk at you. Good thing to have, but not there are better ways to be "All In" on helping develop teams.
Additional not so hot take - it would be a lot easier to train and coach in person…
I second, third, and to the nth degree this.
Hard to teach something that doesn’t come natural and not many can relate to. Mostly it’s learning the rules and who likes learning the rules? The rules are usually to the detriment of personal freedom and experience. Not arguing that rules are many times are a necessary evil. But us leaning and applying them is what gives value to our work.
