I know Liver King is out there but my roommate has been living by his “9 ancestral tenets” and it basically changed his life. Anyone else that follows something similar seen benefits? Seems like he’s rooted on well being and staying connected with the world around you. Even if you think he’s weird his YouTube video is well put together.

Restaurants often use a lot of oils, even in healthier items (and, in normal offerings, butter/cream for flavor). You may be having a reaction to consuming higher amounts of fat than you would normally consume at home... I’d run a trial to see if that hypothesis is correct for you, and then shift your choices in the future in conjunction with a dairy aid for most success.

As long as you're not sensitive to MSG, there's nothing wrong with it

Have you been adhering to the low FODMAP diet? You may be eating many trigger foods and ingredients when you eat out. Highly suggest downloading the app from Monash University
I am a health coach on the side while consulting full time. I specialize in GI issues and general wellness and would be happy help you out if you want to message me :)
I’m lactose intolerant and stuff like lactaid helps me out quit a bit, but there are some days it’s just not up to snuff.
I noticed my stomach gets really torn up when I start eating out a lot. Adopted a healthier eating plan and that helped me so much. I still eat out, but I have to be cognizant of my options. That being said, I don’t have IBS so truly can’t guide you on that aspect. Hopefully you find what works for you.
We’re all adults here with health insurance...right? I’m curious when pairs come up like this - why come to FB with medical problems that few people are qualified to provide advice let alone manage? If someone gives you bad advice here can you imagine trying to explain to a real (licensed) medical professional “Oh well I heard from a Director that I should do XYZ, so I did...”
My dad experiencing sensitivity around digesting dairy. He found that taking a digestive enzyme supplement with his meals helped!

Not a GI expert.
Anecdote: I used to have a dairy sensitivity. I love dairy, so I experimented by slowly started reintroducing milk, yogurt, and ice cream into my diet. Now I'm fine.

@SA1 By "fine", I mean the state as a kid when I can drink a glass of full fat chocolate milk without bloating and/or gas.
Ibs may be stress induced. I would try to work on that. Also probiotics like florastor, supplements like beano, lactase. I’ve had some success with micro dosing thc as well like 1-2mg during a flare. Good luck! It’ll be fine once you learn how to manage it. I’ve been living with it for 30+ years
Public accounting has given me IBS too. When I’m on vacation if goes away. Any tips for dealing with it?
Thank you Oil. I’ve had IBS but have managed it my whole life . Seems to be really bad with restaurant food and I’m thinking I’m lactose intolerant so I need some type of dairy aid
The dairy aids worked okay for me
What worked better was drinking kefir regularly, every day. Changed my life
Yes enzymes very much work - I have working with a nutritionist for a few years and that was big turn around for me. Tried a few things - probiotics and diets before settling on what works best for me - also often these issues are stress triggered to be more self aware.
Suggest speaking to the health coach above^ or better yet a nutritionist
Stress is a tough one. I find that I’m just wired to be stressed out. Even if I’m in vacation I get stressed out about what to do, where to eat, is everyone having fun etc. There’s just a section in my brain for stress
I have IBD and when I’m having issues my GI says to stick to the BART Diet. She also says it’s okay to take over the counter meds as needed but it shouldn’t be a solution. I often take them when I’m traveling just to be safe! Good luck, I know this disease is hard to live with.

Overall gut health and stress management. I eliminated IBS, but I do not eat dairy or any processed foods.
It’s because doctors are just guessing on a lot of this stuff as it’s not very well understood. Personally to get to my balance, it was a lot of trial and error, and going to many different doctors over the years. A lot of gi docs want to treat with prescription meds which don’t work for everyone.
I think people are genuinely looking for help and support on fishbowl.
I understand seeking support once a diagnosis is confirmed by a healthcare professional. However, I still cannot support seeking medical advice on FB...I’m saying this as a licensed clinician. You may be better off tracking the frequency and severity of your symptoms over time and what you’re eating to share with your specialist so they can get a better understanding of what you’re dealing/diagnose instead of getting stuck in a never ending differential diagnosis. Hell, put it in a spreadsheet. Many symptoms (esp GI) seem general until they’re tracked over time. It may save you time and headache over an office visit. Just my two cents (I’ll bill you later).
