PSA: With tax season is around the corner I just wanted to share that CashApp (Square) allows you to e-file individual Federal return and 1 state return for free (with NO income limit), and the best part is it supports ALL essential forms for stocks like 1099s and Sch D (gain loss on stock including crypto). DM if you need a ref code

If you didn’t report it they’d nail you during an independence audit, where the first thing they do is request your tax returns. Those normally happen every 3-5 years, or at major promotions, say to manager or managing director. But if you’re just a staff/associate and bounce after 2 years they may not conduct one. Still a no-no.
It isn’t about the competition. It’s about the brand risk. You’d be fired pretty quick if you didn’t follow your firm’s processes for outside activities.

Yea, totally understandable.
According to ask independence booking is an allowable service
Not sure if that translates to an entire business but may

For real. Did you just ask someone?
At Deloitte, you'd likely lose your job as soon as it was discovered. Outside employment can have all kinds of independence and competition implications. Don't do it.

What's your long term plan? 2 years and quitting? Could you have an adult child or a family member own it initially instead and you be an advisor ? If I were your boss I would be concerned that you were double dipping, (working, getting new clients, or taking client calls while on the clock of the FT job.) Good luck. I think it's a great idea.
I have been looking for a job in the Baltimore area for awhile now. Still looking, however, to no avail. I am not sure what other positions I can apply for. I have been in this industry since 2006. It's difficult finding employment well as getting paid what you are worth. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
If the firm caught you and you didn’t follow guidelines for outside employment, you would be fired. Even if you aren’t a competitor with the firm, there are a lot of conflict of interest and brand issues, and I’d really hate to be you if you end up dealing with fire drills coming from multiple directions with your side business and Big Four clients.
