Just shared in the career pivot bowl

Love it! I would also add: make your MVP, lovable. E.g. kick-ass at whatever you do and stand out.

Referrals definitely help, but don’t close the offer. Closing a job offer is more about marketing and selling relevant experiences than networking 24/7. Having great metrics to back-up your experiences makes your pitch a lot more sound. Almost analogous to a Shark Tank pitch can’t close an offer without the financial due diligence.

Just thought I would add this thought because candidates in this community to be *obsessed* over referrals and are less willing to build their careers.

Such great additions!! If your open to it, would love if you share your thoughts on the post on LI and see if we can get some engagement there. And i think the topic of networking and referrals warrants a post on its own - my creative juices are going :).

Thanks!

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

Anyone know the comp for staff attorneys at a premiere lit boutique like Susman? Interested in making the move as an alternative to going in-house, but also aware that it would reduce comp and might be a step down and result in being seen as a second-class citizen. Didn't end up making the cut in Strategy consulting case interviews. Would really like to do strategy / S&O some day. I love using data to inform decision-making.

Wondering if it would make sense to continue consulting in implementation then try to pivot again in the future or at another level - or drop consulting & try to get a strategy job at a startup or maybe do something else at a larger company and try to pivot internally.

Background is tech + MBA. Any insight appreciated!

Hey guys/gals. Hoping to get some guidance on here. I’m considering making a pivot into industry (Big Pharma specifically) towards the end of next year (right after I’m up for promotion to Manager). Ideally exiting into industry in the marketing function. The problem is I’m not sure what marketing role my background best prepares me for. More on my background below…

I have been working in management at an industry job for 10+ years and I would like to pivot to consulting. Are there any certifications that I should pursue before interviewing? Any other advice is welcome as well.
