Does a senior VP in a relatively "no-name" company (like Johnson and Johnson) make more than an entry level Program Manager in Google?
Deloitte PPMDs, I can't figure out why D would not just reduce the number of temporary visa workers under H1B program vs. firing 5% of its workforce that are probably mostly US citizens. As seen here, D got approved for 57,259 temporary visas. Please explain. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/deloitte-top-participant-in-h-1b-foreign-worker-program-by-far
My wife is giving birth in a few months to our first child. Should I take the full 16 weeks? Four months seems like an extremely long time. What about utilization and bonus? Getting replaced in projects and initiatives?
Parents in Consulting. How do you manage consulting hours (50+ hours) with children? What does your schedule look like?
What celebrities have you run into while travelling for work? Me? Sat next to Erin Burnett on a NJ flight and literally bumped into Plaxico Burress at a NY bar.
Please advise: Sent an email to a partner explaining that I want to take a step back in an initiative because project has been long hours, and I wanted to focus my energy on something else I’m more interested in, and offered to help the next person to transition. Got a reply saying I’d advise to say no up front rather than making commitments I cannot keep. I’m so upset that I cried. WLB has been hard and it was not easy making this decision. What do I reply? Don’t want to leave on bad terms.
Anytime I ask a junior person on my team to do something or give her a recommendation, the reply is always something along the lines of “yeah, I know” “yeah, that was the plan anyway”, or “I was already thinking that”. How do I coach this individual to avoid these type of replies? It just comes off as passive aggressive.
It’s Sunday and I can’t stop thinking about consulting. It’s my identity I can’t imagine having an industry peasant job I’m making spreadsheets for client right now they’ll appreciate the extra mile.
Bravo Deloitte 🙌 Laid off a Senior and a year later, offer staff/intern position. Consulting or insulting🥴
Pretty sure there will be similar stories at other companies as well. Speak up please.
How do you deal with a team member who is not a morning person? We have our team meeting and client meetings at 9:30 AM and they always sounds groggy and slow on the phone. It looks very bad in front of the clients. They look like they just woke up too when they occasionally turn their camera on. I don’t think 9:30 AM is unreasonably early but also don’t want to tell people how to manage their personal schedule. Any suggestions will be welcome!
I am a new manager, I feel like my analysts and consultants don’t respect me yet because they are used to reporting directly to the sr. Manager. How do I bring them under control and in line?
