I've done strength and conditioning - specific to the military population.
Truthfully this could be said with any transition but I would recommend you take a step back and consider what it is that draws you to said role or industry. I also tell most people to read herminia ibarra's working identity if you're considering a career switch.
The reason I call those items out is understanding why X and doing X realistically are the easiest ways to tell if you enjoy something. Plenty of good literature on nutrition, personal training, sport-specific training, etc. it can actually be overwhelming. But if you're interested in those areas I would read those books and try to pinpoint where you have a defined interest.
Follow people who are big in that area and look at what their day-to-day is like. I love physiology but I hate programming. Moreover, I have a low tolerance for people who don't care to take some ownership over the result - so I chose to work with a very specific population that was motivated toward a goal. Realistically I'd need to be a scientist doing research in that realm to be happy doing that and I love reading studies but didn't love the road enough to pursue.
If you wanted to be a nutritionist or trainer you could get certified in your free time and start it as a side hustle. Dietician is another story but you get the idea. Hopefully that helps. Reach out if you want to chat.
This is so insightful and helpful! A lot to think about and put into perspective. I will definitely be reaching out to you for more advice - thank you!!

Very broad question - let’s do a deeper dive. What would you like to do? Be a personal trainer and grow your own book of clients?
Great question!! I don’t know the exact route but I feel like something in that space like a personal trainer, nutrition consultant, health coach, studio owner, etc would just be enjoyable and personally fulfilling knowing that it would be making a positive impact helping others. Granted, I haven’t taken the plunge so I can’t speak from experience but would love to hear any thoughts from others perspectives!
