Didn't end up making the cut in Strategy consulting case interviews. Would really like to do strategy / S&O some day. I love using data to inform decision-making. Wondering if it would make sense to continue consulting in implementation then try to pivot again in the future or at another level - or drop consulting & try to get a strategy job at a startup or maybe do something else at a larger company and try to pivot internally. Background is tech + MBA. Any insight appreciated!

Ok, I don’t think an MBA is a guaranteed win $$ wise. At worst I just end up making a very similar TC (~140-150), at best I end up with 30-50 more. But I think I’m interested in an MBA for the experience, for a break from work, and to explore other opportunities. Is the loss of the opportunity cost a big enough factor to prevent me from going?

Hi fish. I have a question about applying to startups. I’ve been at my current firm (out of UG) for 2.5 years and absolutely love it — awesome team that sticks up for me, working directly with VPs, engaging and rewarding work. I’m currently on a great project which is another year-long commitment. However, I just found my dream job at a startup that I very strongly believe in. Afraid the role will be more competitive if I apply in a year based the startup’s potential. Eventual goal is MBA ...

Best "Consultant Speak" sentence you've hated yourself for saying /typing?

Hot take: consultants at MBB have big egos and seem to promote the idea that they're the "best of the best" not realizing that, in 2021, the "best of the best" works in "tech" typically as engineers and consultants are actually just overworked also rans with oversized egos.
