Hey folks—need your input. I’ve been using Monster/Redbull Zero Sugar as my pre-workout to power through, but Im concerned about the long-term heart effects. switched to Trader Joe’s Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate (just 4 oz straight), but weirdly, it makes me super sleepy, so back to square one.
Anyone else experience this?
Any tips or better pre-workout suggestions?
For context: I’m 6’ tall, 195 lbs, 37 years old, around 15% bf

You need to read labels on both. Red Bull may be sugar free, but what is it sweetened with. Just like Diet Coke or Pepsi, people think they’re doing themselves a favor when in actuality it’s no better for you than their regular.

For some people they skip the stimulation effect of caffeine and head straight to being drowsy. And it is the b vitamins in monster really amping your energy. You could try a low/no sugar powerade to see how it treats you.

My pre/intra workout drink is a cup of tart cherry juice (vasodialtor) mixed with half a cup of apple juice for sweetness, a scoop of protein, and 3 scoops of instant coffee (can be adjusted based on your caffeine tolerance).

It doesn't give quite the jittery punch as other options, but the caffeine does it's job, as well as the fructose for energy, and there's also a bit of placebo mental affect at play that helps motivation to make it an effective solution.

I simply got to a point where all of that extra unhealthy stuff in more traditional pre-workout options isn't worth the long-term implications.

I use the caffeine-free variety of Gnarly Nutrition pre workout. But i always get a pins and needles feeling from the beta alanine in it. My trainer calls it “zappies” hahaha. It does give me energy though for my 6am workouts. This and a cup of coffee, separately.

On the other hand - when i don’t use it, i generally just have a quick carbohydrate to get going. Sometimes just a spoonful of honey, and I’m good to go.

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.

Hey y’all. I went through an exceptionally traumatizing experience a few years ago that has totally & utterly shattered my confidence, self worth, self esteem etc. I have a hard time portraying my work experience + deserving of a new role.

For context, I did well in uni, got into law school but due to finances + the experience in question I didn’t end up going. Kept working in the public sector as a coordinator & now got my scrum master certificate to transfer to SM role in finance/ tech. Help
