I’m an MA with Bachelors degree in Bio. I make $29 in our small, but very busy Derm office located in WA. Honestly, may pay is very high compared to competitors in my area
In Hawaii working for the 3 big medical center you will range from $23-$28 depending on experience the company I work for starts at $24
I have managed multiple pactices and wages can vary quite a bit between where you live and if you are certified or not. For a position like a CMA your B.S. is not really going to be valued unless you are looking to move into leadership and sometimes a company may not give you as much pay if they know you are going to be a short term asset (only going to be there two years). To answer your question $18 might be inline for a private practice in FL. With 2 years and Cerfication I would look at $20-22, in Washington but I am not sure how FL compares to WA wage wise. Just my two cents.
Education doesn't always equate to higher pay, does your position require a Bachelors Degree? If it does, then yes you probably are being underpaid. If it only requires a certificate, then that sounds appropriate to me.
