Hey, if anyone else out there is frustrated with all those job/employment sites that require you to pay a small amount of money for a "trial" or whatever, I may have found a way around having to pay. In my recent job searches, I find a job I think I qualify for, only to be re-directed to pay for a -week or month trial. Annoying to say the least. If you can make out a company on jobleads or verjobs, etc., I rec. going directly to the company web and apply there. You save time and $ this way. GL!

I’ve never paid for any of those job sites, and I don’t plan to. I’ve had better luck using free listings on LinkedIn and then applying directly through the company’s site. It keeps the process simple and free.

Yep. My sentiments exactly.

Cont'd, read the job description carefully and then go to the job website and apply there. True that you may not see the exact job descrip., but that might tell that the jobleads or verjobs ad isn't up-to-date (many of those sites are not). Like I said, going directly to the job website will save time & $. Most companies update their websites fairly often. IF the job is real and timely, it should be listed. For no company listings, I avoid those anyway. Just a tip. Hope this is helpful.

Where do you live? What state? I have never heard of anything like that. Are you referring to Employment agencies? That's new. I stopped using employment agencies long ago. I will go to every companies website and apply, however, some will still make you go through an agency. If they do, I won't apply.

Additional Posts in Paralegals

How do you know when it is time to move on. I am the only litigation paralegal billing over 2,500 a year consistently. Love the boss I work the most for but that person has grown distant. Staff reviews were supposed to be complete this week and no one has mentioned mine. Underpaid by about $30k per market value. Torn and confused.

Has anyone dealt with a lack of praise from attorneys? I'm not someone who needs to hear "good job" all the time, but we just got a huge deal closed that I worked really hard on and had a lot of overtime. And once it closed, the lead attorney praised the other attorneys, and said nothing about me or my work. I might just be overly sensitive, but it kind of stung. Thoughts?

I’ve been a paralegal for about 30 years in private law firmS. As I get older, I feel like it’s time for a semi-career change. I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.
