Hey ladies, any tips on building a business case to move internally? Same department, just different teams. I already have the the skills and get along with the team. I have a meeting set to talk with the department head. Im not sure if I should speak on anything else besides my career development and my qualification.

Give back ground to your interest in the transfer and how it will ultimately benefit the business. The company isn’t there to help you individually so it needs to be rooted in that bigger justification and a need for the skills you bring that other team.

You’re welcome! Now just get in the right rooms with the right people over there and win them over.

Ensure your leader is in the know too

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

Does anybody have a resource available for pricing and billing? I am 2 years out of law school, working as a corporate attorney, and wanting to go solo. Ideally, I will take my corporate client with me, but am working to build work on the side during the transition. Also, do you have any recommendations for document preparation? I would like to draft wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents, but would like a resource that has boilerplate provisions to utilize as a reference.

How do you transition from big 4 consulting to big law? My clients are all funds, and I do international tax consulting. I have used my connections to refer me into probably 10 big law firms and it’s not working. One most recently came back and said they aren’t interested bc I have no law firm experience. How am I supposed to get it though? I can’t go to lower ranked firms bc my clients are all “big.” … any suggestions appreciated!

I have a non business background, and I often noticed that to go a bit further on certain cases or distinguish yourself from others, some knowledge about the industry/sector can be good. Do you have a website/ressource where I can have an overview of the most frequent industries? Thank you in advance :)
