Do you mean like it’s my life right now...the answer is yes!
Still replying each week to an Excel document about which employees are sick, have a confirmed Covid related status, ect.
Excel. Seriously?
Lord.... and Then there’s CalOsha and their emergency temporary standards. Then today the governor issues an EO that contradicts the Cal OSHA standard AND reminds you that local requirements may be different altogether. Exhausting to try to comply anyway but when the rules keep shifting.....
HR started off tracking that information but it has since moved to the operators. Now we are solely focusing on addressing any employee relations issues that arise around COVID as well as policy and procedure guidance and updates. I do feel that my job revolves around COVID now. I look forward to days when I’m not asked a single question about it!
Thanks for sharing, all. Since March I have roughly spent 20% of my time being available 24 hours answering more texts about people and directing them to go to work or what not. I have always been available in general being in hr for 24 hour business but this has been really nuts because people wait for my answer in order to let them know if they can go to work...Sometimes those texts come at midnight
We implemented a COVID attestation form that every employee must complete daily before reporting to work. The form is integrated into our time keeping system and is pushed to all employees daily. The answers to the questions on the form generate a decision on whether it is safe for the employee to report to work. If the answer is not a clear yes or no, the employee is directed to contact their supv/manager whom we equipped with a guidance document which directs them how to proceed. The process has drastically reduced the calls to our Compliance Division.
Yes, takes so much time maintaining spreadsheets, calls, questions, directing managers on employees and where to find Covid information on our internal site and how to enter time. Who knew how much time this would take.
