Hi all, I am in need of advice from women. I was made redundant while I was pregnant and due to circumstances I did not look for work. My child is now 1 and I feel like I am ready to go back to work. I have found it challenging to get to that next stage and I am unsure if that is because I have a child and I am being too transparent with the recruiters, Can you help me and guide me in how to narrate my situation. yes I know market is horrible, but I feel this issue is beyond the market.

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

I never really cared either way about it, however I feel like I’m at that point where you primarily make new friends through existing ones, and they are having children and making other “parent” friends. Between that and living in a SFH neighborhood in the suburbs, I’ve changed my viewpoint over the last few months.

Tomorrow they are requiring masks again and I was almost in tears when I found out. We have been mask free (recommended) since June and I feel like we are being muzzled again. We give 16 weeks paid for “primary caregivers “ and 6 weeks for “secondary “ caregivers. I want to advocate for everyone to get at least 12 weeks.
