Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.

Hi all, I got job offer from CitiusTech with 8 lpa for 6.5years experience. After I got the offer letter my current company provided me the same offer to retain me. I informed the same thing to CitiusTech. Then they provided 10 lpa and sent revised offer letter.
Now my doubt is actually CitiusTech is providing good salary than the other companies. I checked in google, For 6.5 years experience they are providing 14 lpa to 16 lpa. Shall I ask them to provide me Max salary again? Please suggest me

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
