I’m a software engineer earning around 30LPA with 3 yoe.

My primary focus at the beginning of the career had been to bump up my CTC and now that i have. i feel i’m under-skilled.

I have a constant fear of not knowing stuff and i try to fill up gaps as much as possible. It has been a month in this company haven’t had much work but i feel i have a long way to go before taking up ownership. I don’t feel good about this.


Any suggestions?

After freelancing for years and doing well, would you consider a full time job? It's really hard to give up the flexibility of freelance, but... also hard to give up having a 401k match again. Salary would be similar to freelance money, but less time off. Thoughts?

I feel like every company lies about “working your way up.” You’re never allowed to blatantly say that you don’t like your position and you’d like to transition to HR or Finance. It’s almost as if once you get in claims, you’re stuck.

If you’re a manager and you see an employee that wants to branch out into a different department, why would you keep them boxed in for 2+ years?

Cognizant - 18.7LPA (18Fixed +0. 7 variable)
TCS + 19.5LPA (including fixed , variable and retention bonus)

Wipro - 20LPa ( including fixed and variable)

I have an offer from TCS which is offering 35 LPA. However the variable component is around 7LPA. I want to know does TCS pay variable 100% or they deduct a considerable amount from variable.
Also is it worth joining TCS?

Low billable, low pressure work in privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a tech litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. The Examiner also pointed out five differences between the primary reference and the claimed design. For the reply, I found nine additional differences between the claimed design and the primary reference, two of which are not present in any of the cited references. Our company is a small company with 80-100 employees in India, what the company does is ask us to track every single minute of our day, from getting into the office to what time we got up for lunch, tea, etc. for everything we have to put a log, do you guys think this is a healthy process for a company to grow? All the employees be frustrated that they have to go to office regularly and finish 9 hours somehow, a measured break time is also allocated.

My parent has a star health policy for which the renewal premium is drastically increasing (almost by 50%) every year at age 51.
With such increase I do not think it will be viable for long term. So planning to switch/port.
