Interviewing with a small (50 people) boutique firm in a management position. They are in an industry I have 10 years of experience plus I have 5 years management consulting experience in B4 firm. I’m job searching right now and applied for a job I was a little overqualified for just to shoot my shot and get my foot in the door with a great brand. The hiring mgr took the time to email me to tell me I was overqualified and offered to help me get connected to his network. He’s been so kind and helpful and I’m kind of in shock at his generosity. Even if an offer doesn’t come from it, is it weird if I send him a Starbucks gift card or something as a thank you? What’s appropriate?

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? Remember one thing - If some companies are laying off employees then it's equally a good chance for the other companies to get talented resource . Here things will remain balanced mostly and there's no need to fear . Not all companies do layoff at the same time. You may end up getting a 100% hike too. Just believe in yourself and focus on your skillset, time to brush up and pull up your socks. Stay safe , stay positive !
