I'm scared to think how college education environment will be like in 20 years...or even how the corporate environment will be in 20 years when many of these brainwashed radicals have risen up in the ranks
Seems like Jodi was the only one demanding a safe space here and also the only one shunning dissenting speech? She resigned, she wasn’t forced out, so you really don’t have a point here.
Y’all are watching too much OAN and need to rejoin reality. Colleges are grappling with important issues; it is almost always the case that they are ahead of society (read: ahead of you) on social issues. You can listen or you can get run over like the buzz cuts did in the Vietnam era.

Without knowing all the details and hearing just her side of the story it seems like she has grounds for her complaint.
I also know, as a hispanic man myself, that people use my ethnicity and race as an obstacle to hire me or work with. They have said straight to my face. That said, if what she is saying is true, then it is sad that the college is going into such a reckoning path. I do not need my colleagues to feel guilt or feel bad for being white. I just need them to see me as a human being. I also need them to understand that even if they do, there is a shit ton of people that doesn’t and recognize as such. Simple as that. Let’s also not forget that some of us indeed are subject to racism in a daily basis.
Her experience cannot be invalidated as well as the experience of others. Change needs to happen and I personally think Universities is a place where your ideas need to be tested and discussed openly. They such be the mecca for the exchange of ideas.
Maybe I am just an old millennial but not everything should come with a trigger warning, not everything should be a “safe space”. But also we need to understand that there is indeed systemic problems within the US, from the justice system to the college system. For example: just yesterday, the Georgia GOP legislature put forward a law that bans early voting on Sunday. No other day but Sundays. You wonder why, and then you realize is that in majority black counties, early voting drives are done on Sundays through the Souls to the Polls programs, were people go to vote after church. This is happening and is very real.
So, I hope that people that don’t condone this action by Smith College (assuming her side is right) are as willing to acknowledge the history and current environment happening against minorities.
It’s scary. A lot of companies now have initiatives to target employee quota by race. I find that the most racist thing ever. Race becomes a deciding factor for college admissions and employment rather than pure merits and qualifications. Isn’t that racism?
C1, do you believe that we should have racial quotas for college, jobs, and even Nobel prizes?
The school was more than generous in offering a settlement to a staffer whose job is unnecessary so long as on-campus classes are on hold.
Tldr?
