Hi Fishes,

I have 2 offers from EY GDS and HTC global services.

EY GDS offered 17 fixed and 10 per variable
HTC offered 23 fixed

Which one is to select for good learning and onsite opportunities.

Please advise.

What’s the service line at EY and your area of work?
In general, just going by the brand name, EY is a much bigger and recognisable brand. Learning opportunities are endless. On-site opportunities are completely dependent on the SL, your counselor and Partner support.

like

Brand name helps only if we move into a service based, its not considered in any product firms

I am Ex-HTC employee, currently working in GDS. Advantage with EY is brand name, learning opportunities including certification, good hike, flexibility of WFH. Disadvantage is quality and quantity of projects. It's really difficult to switch project also.
About HTC, it's a mid size private firm. Don't expect much from its office infrastructure. Advantages are better visibility in project, less official working time(8 hrs), job security, most of colleagues are friendly based on my experience and my friends experience (not talking about manager and senior managers), better for women employees. Disadvantages are doesn't have any sites for learning so you have to be on your own, previously there was 2 hike cycles now they changed to 1 so probability of getting good hike is less and hike is based on amount not on percentage. So if you are in high CTC percentage of hike will be less. Even though official working hours is 8, lot of projects ask you to extend the work for few hours daily and weekends.

Just pick the HTC offer and later move on to any big 4 after spending few months. This is just to increase your payscale

If your area of interest in technical stuff then I will recommend for HTC. I'm part of tech consulting team, very frankly speaking EY gds don't have much good work apart from hell of documentation. I agree learning portal are there to get certified but I feel it's like just driving licence not actual driving.
I'm telling thos coz after so called much leaning opportunity and doing certification, when u try outside opportunity. All company start asking lots of practical problem. So choose wisely.

Hi all,
I’ve recently transitioned from Travel Customer Service role (8 YOE) to Analyst in the same LOB. Earlier I resolved travel queries through calls/emails, but now my role is to analyse travel spending on Amex cards. Now I want to remain in analysis field and grow. I currently only use SQL, Power-BI and MS-Suite. What should I learn further? Which tools or is there a course I should do? I’ve only done Graduation and thinking of doing PGDM in Data Analytics or BI.
Any suggestions?

Hi fish, trying to figure out when to exit consulting. Currently i’m a specialist (one level below engagement manager), and will need additional ~1.5 year to make em. I have also have a green card complication, so need to wait for ~8 months before i can leave. So, would that make sense to stick around to make em? Or should I exit at once when green card is resolved?
I feel that it is hard to directly exit into a manager role even after promoting to em. What is your thoughts? TIA
