Latest episode posted! “Generals in the Making” is a gem of a leadership book and should be required reading for any early or mid-level professional. The book is an engrossing examination of how four army generals of World War II, each a major player in their own right, navigated the uncertain and tumultuous pre-war years in their careers. sphttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/black-market-leadership/id1523238553?i=1000533915181
There's a ton of self help and leadership books out there to help people in their careers. If there was one that was written front the lense of a public accounting, would you read it?
Hi all. I am planning to start reading books on investing. (I have a list of 10 books already). I’m one of very few creative women in my shop...there are none in creative leadership. Would love a female mentor who I could show my book to, ask questions, and get general advice from. 🤞
Does anyone have recommendations for self-improvement books written by Asians/Asian-Americans? By self-improvement, I mean any book that has caused you to reflect or positively impacted your life to include philosophy or leadership.
Hey guys, question regarding new years resolutions. Anyone know some good books about how to lead better and step up to become a great CD?
If you’re succeeding on all the right metrics (i.e., leadership loves you, clients love you, you’re participating on pitches, you’ve brought in clients, and you’re set up to inherit a book of business), but you’re still not super into it, being promoted to income partner won’t change things, right? Worth sticking out to see or jumping to go in house at a pre-IPO, late stage startup you find super exciting and interesting?
Trying to level up my on strategic thinking skills. What books, podcasts or other learning sources would you recommend? Is there a boom that catalogs successful strategic plays by companies/ leaders?
Leadership: They’ll be working long hours, quick turn around times, lots of spreadsheets, models, and presentations Best Buy: We have brand new Surface books Leadership: No the oldest version of Dell will work, thanks!
Looking for an art partner to come in at the ACD or what my agency calls “group art supervisor” level. Fair warning: it’s pharma, but business is really healthy and leadership usually fights really hard for creative that doesn’t involve couples strolling down the shoreline hand-in-hand :) Hit me with your book if interested
Is there a book out there on leadership within professional services/consulting space? I have found a lot of good material on consulting in general (the trusted advisor, etc) but nothing...
Bookish fish! What’s the best book on leadership you’ve read? Particularly creative leadership.
Do you have any book/video/whatever recommendations for how to be a good manager/lead? I'm trying to make the transition and get more responsibility
It’s my first day at an advertising agency and you’re the copy lead. What’s the first book you give me to read? The best advice? The writers you tell me to look up? All in an effort to put me on the highway to copywriting craft excellence.
Have some downtime. Would anyone read a book on how to lead successful tech strategy assessments? (Willing to pay for it? $9.99?)

With so much coverage of teachers strikes, I feel like now is the time to join my union. Please share your experience or your perspective with joining your union.
I received an offer from KPMG as an advisory associate (75k), and a second one from Grant Thornton as a transformation consultant (70k). Im leaning towards the KPMG position, however I’m wondering about salary negotiations; the Grant Thornton position is in a state where cost of living is 15% cheaper than that of KPMG, and I am also in the process of obtaining my MBA (one more semester left). Any way I can leverage/utilize this information to negotiate a higher salary with KPMG?
When even Laura Ingraham is skeptical you know it's a bad interview https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1300620978305736704?s=19
What does your working hours look like in Management Consulting - Financial Services? How do you manage work life balance if you have a small kid?
Slight vent: I had saved up a bunch of PTO to travel a ton this year (long-term project) which obviously got kicked to the dust and I have a bunch expiring this year because of that. Was looking forward to next year (including a family trip that’s been on the calendar for 2 years), but 3 people just left the team, only 1 will be replaced, and 3 more announced parental leave in spring. I have go lives through February and feel like I’m sprinting a marathon and will never get a break now.

Is anyone worried their Amex points redemption is going to drastically drop? I think my Amex points will be worth much less in a couple of months? Redeem points to pay your bill down? Worth it?
Have seen people who have climbed the ladder fairly quickly in Big4 firms by sticking to one client. How can this be a good thing for you as a consultant? I get the relationship part but how can....
10+ YOE, experienced hire, and up for promotion to SC this year. My current project is straight up analyst work (absolutely no disrespect). I spend my days doing nothing but updating excel sheets, producing reports for slides, and doing extremely boring work (go into 100+ folders/excels and report back on who's completed what). I not only feel like this is BS, but I feel like it's going to screw up my promotion. I've never asked any analyst I have worked with to do this stuff, yet here I am...
I switched to a new in house role for a health care company in February, this is the organization’s first in house role. The outside counsel they have worked with closely and is respected in the field has had a series of MAJOR misses this year and I need to deal with this, I am cognizant that I am new and younger and want to be respectful. Working on a plan for legal services going forward and any advice would be helpful. He is nearing retirement so I don’t know if that is part of it.
Looking for an adjustable standing desk, and don’t want to shell out $700+ for the Fully Jarvis and other models. Would love to get your recommendations! Looking for something that isn’t too big, looks nice, and has room for a laptop and single monitor.
I was recently interviewed for consultant role in Deloitte USI S&O, which unfortunately I couldn't clear. Can I apply for roles in other domains within Deloitte USI S&O? Is there any cooling period as such to be interviewed again?
