Easier to fake it in industry or consulting? (I'm actually pretty knowledgeable but feeling imposter syndrome)

Industry. Kill it your first four months and you'll set the tone for your future there. Consulting, you're constantly trying to prove yourself.

FE = Fundamentals of Engineering, it is one of the steps to become a Professional Engineer.

I’d go into consulting and kick ass… then go into industry. If you can hack it in consulting, I’ve seen some top level executives in industry come out of consulting first.

Got it - stick it out in consulting and learn as much as you can. Not sure which firm you’re with, but many of the offer loads of training and free course work in your domain. When you’re on a project, dive in and challenge yourself. You’ll come out on the other side much better- and industry (should you go back) will value that. If you decide consulting is for you, you’ll have set yourself up well.

I'm really having a difficult time understanding how engineering is supposed to be really competitive, most of the projects I've worked on were in groups and there wasn't usually a clear "leader," we were just on a team

I've been working at this company for about 3.5 weeks now. Its been great so far.

We have an org chart in our dashboard ATS/HRIS and so I clicked on my first day buddies name just for fun.

I was able to see her entire employee file..even her address. I was really freaked out and I went to another profile and the same thing happened, I was able to see this person's emergency contact. Is this fucking normal? Should I say something and will I get in trouble for looking at a colleagues file?

I don't know how some people do things that to me seem so risky. Maybe I'm just way too conservative.

A friend and spouse recently purchased a home twice the price of ours and took additional amount of loan on top "for paying off other debt." They make less than half what we make and owe three times as much in other stuff (car loans, cc, irs, etc). I'd be so stressed and likely wouldn't have taken such a loan (5.8%) for an even smaller home than ours. Just thinking about it stresses me out tbh.
