Domain. It is super nice
Lol no it is not nice
The Domain is literally the saddest most depressing area in Austin. Like living in a mediocre shopping mall. Live within 10 minutes of downtown (but avoid downtown) in any direction and you’re good.
Yup, it’s pretty absurd. But most people in this world sadly don’t have good taste. That’s why we have wall to wall carpet, True Religion jeans, and the Domain.
Clarksville/tarrytown! Super safe. Basically the closest suburb to downtown.
Definitely Domain is pretty nice. South moparc area is not bad either if you are trying to save some money.
Can also try the arboretum area
Up in Lakeline, plenty of nice gated apartment complexes. Cheaper than downtown and easy access to grocery stores, theatres, etc.
“Good” depends on multiple factors. How old are you and what else do you want besides a safe place? I am 29 and would never even consider living in some of the areas listed above right now because a lot of them are more family oriented areas. There are a lot of pockets with young professionals. Generally, I would say the 78704 zip code (for renting).

Also ‘Smart City’ Apartment locators are great, I’ve used them before! Free service :)
I think you will want to be close to Central/downtown if you are single. Some people are recommitting the burbs (Cedar Park?!), but that’s going to be too far to go out. Almost all places are safe. I would just stay away from Southeast Austin and near the airport. South Lamar, Tarrytown, Rainey Street would be good areas. Domain isn’t bad for singles from what I hear.
Pro
Yes I am so confused that people are recommending Cedar Park.

Austin is a really safe city overall. Find a neighborhood you like, where you can have fun. Hyde Park, North Loop, Cherrywood, Holly, South Congress, Mueller -- all great neighborhoods that come with a relatively high cost because they are central. If you go a little more north, like near the Domain (but dear god not IN the domain), it'll be cheaper. Bee Caves/Westlake are nice, but also $ and very family oriented. I'd personally try to find a studio near Barton Springs/Town Lake trail.
I was also considering buying a house in Georgetown area. Do you guys think it will be a good investment for the future?
That is a really good point Google1. Hopefully I will make new friends too and they could help me navigate through this process
There is a 1 bedroom in 9520 Apartments is still available. From Dec. 15. The December and January rents is FREE. If anyone is interested
In October 2019I moved to Austin from Lyndhurst, Ohio. I lived in a cheap $50/day hotel & made finding an apartament a priority. I live in Arya Apartments 15 feet from the pool. Westgate. Quiet & easy to get around.
We lived at Folio off gracy farms and Stonehollow, which is about a mile from the domain. Much quieter and nicer apartments, but still easy to get to domain or downtown with mopac right there.
Walkable to canary roost, hopsquad and circle brewing, train station, and Q2 stadium.
I live near McNeil and FM2222 but there’s also some nice apartments off 620 and 2222. And the area is really safe. Really close to an HEB and Target and 15-20 minutes from most shopping centers. Traffic is also never that bad.
I would say anywhere between the major highways. MLK and mopac. Anything in muller is fine
What area is your office or main place you’d be for work? What’s your age? If you don’t mind answering. I’m 43 and in north Austin.
I live in the newer apartments in Bluff Springs. Not bad, but I-35 traffic is a nightmare at times
