Hi, I applied for Google few months ago, and my resume only includes my work at my old place X. I just joined a new company < 1 month. And I now just got Google offer. During background check with Hire Right.
Can I omit the new company, and only list the old place X for consistency with the resume? Does omiting a current short-term job in background check cause any issues?

It’ll show up regardless. For my case, I messed up some dates from a job a long time ago. It simply corrected it and I was good. Depends on the company and what they’re looking for. Most companies want to make sure you’re a safe employee to take a chance on. Find out what they’re looking specifically and you might be good

Hey - I have a job referral available that you’d be a good fit for. DM me

The company doing the background check will likely use ADP’s work employment verification service called the WorkNumber. If you are on W2 or 1099, they will know where you are working.

Be honest. They will find out either way

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.

I currently work as a Contracted Software Engineer and I’m set to finish my contracted time at the end of October. I definitely could use the extra paycheck to help out with my financial obligations. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this before.

What would your reaction be if the company you applied to asked for you to get permission from your current firm before moving forward? The situation is the company you're applying to is a client of your current firm, and you've already gone through the interview process with the new company. Thoughts?
