Hi, I applied for Google few months ago, and my resume only includes my work at my old place X. I just joined a new company < 1 month. And I now just got Google offer.

During background check with Hire Right, can I omit the new company, and only list the old place X for consistency with the resume? Does omiting a current short-term job in background check cause any issues?

Are they asking you to update the resume you submitted? If not, I would let the sleeping dog lie. Does Hire Right provide you with a form to fill out? Let Google bring it up. Did they expect you to refrain from taking a pick-up job? Explain it that way. You took a pick-up job in the interim, but remain focused on Google.

I’d be careful leaving anything out. Background checks are usually about verifying what you did list, but if they find a gap or recent employment not disclosed, it might raise questions. I’ve seen people list the new job with dates and just explain it was a short transition. Transparency usually saves headaches later.

As far as I know, unless explicitly asked for your full and complete employment history, I think it’s fine. For general background checks, they are just making sure all the jobs and dates are correct that you put on there. That all being said, I don’t know Google's process.

For a background check, I would include your current employer. I don’t think the fact that it’s not on your resume is an issue, but if you exclude it from a background check, that could be a flag.

it will not cause issues, they can only verify what you provide

I would personally just leave it off if I were you. I'm pretty sure they only verify what you put and many employees don't include EVERY employer esp short term ones.

Agree with this

I recently went through the process, do NOT omit your current employer. Google values transparency more than anything

Hi everyone! I have been in my current role as an EA at a financial institution for about a year and a half now. I would love to find a 100% remote role as a mid level EA at a company with an awesome work culture. I think I’m ready to be challenged again, I find myself bored in my current role… I’m open to any industry but would love to get into tech. If anyone knows of any openings I would really appreciate it! I’m located on the East coast currently. TIA

I interviewed at Google and cleared all onsite interviews back in July. Then came the hiring freeze and my role was de-prioritized. I have been a software developer (professionally) for about 7 years now, but I’ve decided to move out from that job and do something else (still in tech).
I don’t know yet what to do exactly, but I know I just don’t want to be only writing code every day.
Tbh, I am scared. But I have set myself one year to learn something new.
I also want to go for a job that pays more (55k€ currently). I live in Paris, France, and software developers are not well paid.
Any suggestion for a career transition?
