Hi! I currently work as an Eligibility Specialist, but there’s a lot of RCM/Billing work within my job. I’m not just verifying/updating insurance info, doing prior auth’s, etc. It’s much to type, but I love what I do. I am looking to expand my knowledge and heavily considering getting my coding license, however after a-lot of research, it seems’s like it’s an extremely saturated field and extremely hard to obtain a job, plus AI taking over. Any coders out there still encourage this move?

now it appears that they are lumping a variety of task within one position. Eligibility and Billing are two different position and responsibility was this addressed upon hire or did they just thrust this upon you coding is very detailed and it depends on the type of coding you want to do. there is professional, hospital and specialties the test is a time manage test as well i took and it was very intimidating. but there are some good coursed out there now not when i attempted so many years ago. go for it but it may be a bit pricey

Coding auditing/compliance may work but coders will be out soon. Good to diversify skillset though. Auth will remain a need and coder certification could help that too by identifying proper auth code and mismatches. Good luck!

I received a message on LinkedIn from an internal recruiter at a company that sounded intriguing. Would it be bad form to ask for more information about the role and about comp up front? I wasn’t looking to leave my firm until later next year at the earliest, but the company sounds really interesting. Don’t want to waste a lot of time if the comp isn’t right, though.

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time?
