Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

happenned to me I was in siemens for 2.3 years upper management were not able to bring or retain clients for our product so they layed off developers for cost cutting.Lesson learned always be prepared for interview 24*7 .Now I got 5 offers but not good hike only around 20% so joinig one and will start my ds algo preparation for fang.All the best to you just ask for 20% and join then start preparing for bigger componies

You don't have to say that you got laid off. You can say you have resigned and on notice and your last working day is 31st dec. Nowhere in your experience letter it will be mentioned that you were laid off.
Also, if you mention this ,hr may take advantage regarding salary.
You can say you are looking for better opportunities or a new role, or the project you are working on is using older tech stack so you want to work with new tech stack etc.,
You can start looking for a job from today.
You can say that you are laid off due to some projects getting over.
You will get selected don't worry.
One thing - don't wait for certain time before you start applying, apply now - interviews are best preperation palygrounds. No harm appearing in interviews every few days of week for an hour.
Another - layoffs could happen in any organisation, this doesn't demean your potential or you as an professional.
Hiring takes a lot of time and energy so good organisation doesn't give a shit on these bullshits if you are qualified and they find you worthy. If it impacts you in any way then go for counter offers.
I also got laid off from Amazon. And layoffs don’t project your career profile. You can surely mention that you’re laid off and it’s okay. It’ll not impact your CTC because it doesn’t for me as well. Instead of making any false scenarios it’s always better to say the truth.

You can take advice from the Software Developer 1 of not saying you got laid off.
But there will be quanter questions then be prepared for that.
Like : Y did you leave when you did not have any offer in hand?

for that I said companies are looking for immediate joiners so resigned
I was being laid off in August and still not getting relevant calls. I tell the HRs that project requirement got over. Yes CTC they don't offer much but its because of the market condition or their budget. But you can always mention that offers are in pipeline and you are getting so and so offer.
Start applying now, as it needs time for the whole process and you will get practice for the interviews.
Thing is about increasing this gap period
I am also laidoff and searching for job. Unfortunately, I haven't received any offer. May be budget is problem or it's festive season so most of HRs are on OOO. When I tell them about my CTC they either make excuses or give flase promises but never get back. I hope 2024 will be good for me.

Guys I just got laid off from siemens digital industry .I thougth product based componies are stable now I am in depression now as I have a home loan .Even though my work was good the higher management failed to retain client for our product and in return developers are suffering.Any suggestion how to become stable in Software Industry?

Here is the answer to both the questions.
"Never lie to the recruiter", he/she will help you from getting downgraded, just in case.
At least you won't get less than what you got currently.
"Don't go for lesser under any circumstances", unless your lay off is the result of you being "overpaid".
It's fine if you mention about layoff and you are immediate joiner.
They will fast track your application.
I got laid off in December 2023.

Important thing is update ur naukri profile every week. Push some content on LinkedIn wrt tech which u r interested to work with
