Between Carmichael Lynch, Colle McVoy, Fallon, Mono, and others, Minneapolis has a solid number of options. Lived there for a few years and liked it a lot.
austin is thriving but texas is awful and about to get a whole lot worse.
Worked in both Austin and Richmond. Austin has a lot of smaller shops plus the big 3 of GSD&M, Preacher, and Mc-J. Not sure what Callen is up to these days, I believe the Kallman office that opened recently is fairly busy. Beyond that there’s a lot of only smaller shops. Believe overall the agencies are doing well right now.
Richmond obviously has Martin, A+L, and a few small places.
Both are nice town to live in. Richmond is basically Austin, but 15 years behind in its development. My biggest issue was pay. If you’re coming from a name place in New York you can probably get paid more than the locals, but, in Austin in particular, they paid like shit bc of the “cheap cost of living” fallacy and in Texas the lack of state income taxes. Something to keep in mind if you’re relocating.
callen is busy
Chicago is dead. Moved back after almost a decade in New York. The creative scene here is decimated like a forest fire swept through. With that there is some promising “new” growth, like Highdive, Quality Meats (apparently, haven’t seen any of their work) and the resurgence and maybe high-water mark for SomeOddPilot.
Otherwise…it’s not looking good.
The city is great otherwise for creative scenes/endeavors in the arts.
If you think chicago is bad...imagine what its like everywhere else (except mew york apparently)
