Hi! Just to vent. I am burnt out working at ID to meet my billables. Have been applying to any type of privacy jobs for months but no luck. I have an 8 mo old baby so it’s difficult to study the CIPP exam. My firm does not have any privacy cases besides ransomware attack matters so I can get some exposure. This limbo is so frustrating. No new job because no experience. No experience because no new job. Am I doing something wrong? P.s I am a foreign educated attorney and barred in California.

Transitioning from the work you’re doing now to privacy work is going to be difficult. You’re going to have to do a lot of networking instead of just applying to jobs. I know it’s hard, but you should definitely study for the CIPP. A lot of these places need to know you have a baseline of privacy knowledge. Lots of people are applying to privacy jobs because it’s a hot area - you have to show them you at least have some interest in it.

Thank you. I’m studying now and will take it mid August so hopefully it will help.

I echo what Counsel 1 said. You have to prove you have a real interest in privacy so invest in it & get your CIPP. Get as many CIPPs as you can afford. I would spend my time doing that first then once achieved, start applying to jobs.

like

Remember applying to jobs is a competitive activity. It isn’t what you’re qualified for it’s about what you’re the most competitive match for.

Are you applying for jobs for which you’re competitive or positions looking for several years of Privacy experience?

Hello!
I was wondering what kind of contractual or other barriers I might face if I apply for one of the big 4 while working on a project with them in my current company.
I am not too involved in the project but I was in a few meetings and went on a field trip with them as well.
The position that I am applying for is in a different team and city.
Will this considered “poaching” if the consulting firm hires me? Would they need to talk to my current employer?

Hi Fishes,

I got interviewed at infosys two days back.
When can I expect to hear back from them.
Also all the questions that were asked to me were written coding questions(Write block of code) none were verbal.I could write all answers but none was 100% correct.

At last I asked the interviewer about feedback as in where was I wrong. He said at couple of places and he explained me where was I wrong.

Do you all think I will be rejected?

Waiting for an offer, do they check references before or after giving offer? And normally how long after interview will I hear back?

Considering a Product Owner role. Any best practices of what questions to ask during an interview? First phase deals with a virtual Teams interview with the recruiter and her manager on Tuesday. Excited since this is a hop from a Product Analyst role and entails an offer of over $30,000 from what I'm getting now! This would be a permanent full-time compared to my current contractor role that ends in March.

I’m curious to know if anyone has experience working part-time in architecture? I have been working for large international firms in NYC for the past 10 years. So I work all day every day. My evenings and often the weekends are all absorbed by work duties. Working part-time would allow me to find a better balance, and carve out space for side gigs and eventually start my own firm. Any recommendations?

Hi all,
Been doing privacy for about a year now in-house. Got my CIPP/US.
Having major imposter syndrome still. I feel like the minute I finally have a grasp, something changes. The law and nuances just seem overwhelming. Maybe it’s just a lack of guidance/uniformity in the US. I’m not sure if I feel this way because it is simply the nature of the work or because I’m just not capable.
