Hi folks, how is thoughtworks as an organisation?
Asking because I don't know much about it and have received recruiter's call today. Currently I am working in Deloitte. How is thoughtworks hikes, wlb, does it provide any benefits apart from fixed pay? I have sent counter offer to on boarding HR spoc in IBM for re negotiation. Its been one week. HR is not responding to my calls and emails. What should I do? Any suggestions? The biggest raise I ever got was one I asked for. Because men will punish women for asking for a raise (it’s proven) I did a bunch of research and found that the way to get around that is to talk about the communal benefits of one, instead of personal ones.
Instead of “I need to make more money because I’m barely covering childcare.” You’d say “if I made more money, I could get better childcare so I could spend more time focused on my work.” Focus your language around how the company or team would be better served by your raise.
You can do this in another way. The key to being a powerful negotiator is being willing to walk away, so have a backup plan. Be willing to leave if you don’t get the raise. Have another offer lined up. Then you can say “I’d hate to leave the team hanging but I can’t stay if I don’t get the raise.”
Negotiation is unfortunately a gendered skill. You can’t negotiate like a man does. Women need to be likable in negotiation, men can pound the table. I mastered it and got a 75% raise and stock options.
I wish that it was about how good you are. But it never is.

At my last job, I had to jump through hoops for every extra penny. That's one of the primary reasons I left. Where I am now, I'm much more appreciated and well-compensated for my worth.

Yep. Always have to fight for it. And its usually not that great of a raise either.
