Hi 🐠, what are some great exits for someone with 2 years of software dev experience with a computer engineering degree? My SO has come to hate coding, and wants to try a new career path

Solution Engineer where they learn the technical specifications, capabilities, and limits of a software product and then help a sales team to sell it might be something they can look into.

I have the same background and am doing tech management consulting...no reason why your SO couldn’t also. The uphill battle will be proving they have the consulting skill set (past 2 years will prove the technical portion), something which took me a few years to do as I gradually transitioned from more technical to less technical, but that was by my choice.

Cybersecurity has a negative unemployment rate - most companies I’ve interacted with are willing to train people as long as they have a technical background! Happy to refer SO if they’re interested.

Are there certain firms that are more accepting of Tax backgrounds entering advisory positions? I’m a CPA with a couple years regional tax experience looking to transition to advisory/deals, but have struggled getting big 4 advisory interviews even with solid recommendations.
I’ve heard there’s solid opportunities in advisory type work for some other large firms outside big 4. Has anybody made a similar transition?

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

If I get laid off, I have a previous colleague that started a cybersecurity company. I would love to get involved on the business side of it. Any pointers on skills that are attractive in this realm for a startup? Would be mostly (if not all) federal defense contracting clients. I’m currently in Deloitte’s cyber risk practice but my background and passion is in accounting and finance, and business operations. Graduated in 2017 so still early career.
