Honest question for marketing pros: Are we hiring for knowledge or for skill?

Seeing a huge gap in interviews lately. Resumes are loaded with certs, but candidates falter on real-world strategy problems.

We’re calling it the "Proof Gap" — the chasm between theory and the actual ability to execute. It’s making hiring a nightmare.

Anyone know how to get a position as an HRBP without HRPB experience? All positions I've looked at want previous experience. Would over 5 years of HR experience and a PHR suffice, or what skills should be added to that?

3L with mostly A’s and B’s. I am having the worst luck trying to find work for after school and my experience working with lawyers has left me completely dejected. I cannot get an interview to save my life. I was so excited to get an externship summer after 2L with a small business and IP firm only to get yelled at on the phone a few times for not doing an assignment correctly. I've recieved an offer from Morgan Stanley, my previous salary was around 6 Lpa and last offered was around 15 Lpa (WFH), I quoted 40 to 45% on top of that around 22 Lpa considering Mumbai location, WFO and Glassdoor pay range.

CTR, contracts and department overhaul

our marketing dept is undergoing a complete overhaul. under old leadership, a $75k 12-mo contract was signed to a marketing group that handles our SEO, blog and everything Google Ads. All things I can and am in training to do. Current CTRs on G ads seem pitiful at no more than 0.75%. My meta ads coast around 4-6%. During this overhaul, would it be wise to not renew our contract, and negotiate for me to take over these roles and leverage a raise?

If I am planning on living somewhere in CT soon, is there some sort of general guideline to consider, keep in mind, calculate to figure out how much is enuf to take a job that requires you to commute to NYC 3 or more days a week? Or Boston 3 or more days/week?

A. >75% iOS users denied tracking. They are no longer tracked across websites/apps. Facebook lost its edge.

Considering acquiring a blog/website that has good SEO value (DA, etc.). My site is complimentary (more product focused), but same niche. Is there a way to best integrate with my own site to retain/maximize SEO value between the two?

Will an MBA set me apart? I’m job searching right now and applied for a job I was a little overqualified for just to shoot my shot and get my foot in the door with a great brand. The hiring mgr took the time to email me to tell me I was overqualified and offered to help me get connected to his network. He’s been so kind and helpful and I’m kind of in shock at his generosity. Even if an offer doesn’t come from it, is it weird if I send him a Starbucks gift card or something as a thank you? What’s appropriate?
