Don’t go to Oracle if you ever want a raise, even in normal years.
Are we talking OCS here? Do they not lay-off like the rest of the company?
I was referring to OCS, not sure what the others were
The bad side: Raises are typically terrible, and getting promoted is very difficult - even if your boss recommends you for promotion. However, oracle can be a good place to work for the following reasons:
1) Almost nobody gets fired (mostly because natural attrition is usually high due to the reasons mentioned above)
2) Putting Oracle on your resume will make you look like a technical expert in your technology
As already stated, at Oracle you’ll find it hard to ever get natural raises, and it usually only occurs if you put in your notice to leave. But you have a very secure job compared to big4 where firings hardly happen unless your department is shut down. If you’re dead set on going there make sure to ask on the higher end of your salary range as you will most likely be stuck there for a few years.
I have a friend working as manager in ocs there for about 150. He negotiated hard upfront.
It will take years and at least 2 threats of leaving to get a raise. Cost of living increase or anything tied to inflation, ya right good luck.
