How did you escape from the dead end, soul sucking job of being trapped on a trade desk/customer service job? I am so miserable, so stressed that it’s affecting my mental and physical health. Anyone lucky enough to escape seems to take an operations role and stay there for life.

Yes and yes been there countless times, left, came back, left, came back again cause it was a familiar job position and I needed money from the job. In all honesty, with much respect to your spirit, I took this very worry to Jesus Christ. During my quick smoke breaks and lunch breaks, I would get my sneakers on, put my Bluetooth headphones on, play praise and worship music and read aloud specific scriptures that come to mind. Like Psalms 91, 2 Timothy 1:6-7 and Matthew 7:6 BECAUSE exhaustion in a place where u serve others makes 2 things prevalent. 1st, "me time" is "tea-time" take your deserved breaks, make time blocks on your schedule. I called mine the "zen - ten" and it would be a 10 minute break I would schedule per 2 hours I work a shift (depending on tasks for the day it would change). 2nd, keep yourself protected. Typically when feeling that way theres something working against you or multiple ppl speaking I'll against you no matter what you do. Again take yourself away from the worldly concerns and do not attach yourself to the identity of the one who saves everyone and no one is saving you. That means ppl in your environment are draining you and you might want to protect your pearls and keep your peaceful distance.

You might think about pivoting to working for a fintech firm. You've likely got some insight into the software and its pain points and you can leverage that in a job search. Or if you like dealing with clients, just not in the current role, you might think about going into wealth management. Think about where you want to land, and then make a plan to get there.

I was in a role like that many years ago, and I was miserable. I started networking and talking to friends and family about their companies and open roles. My friend gave me a referral, and I was able to get out of there.

Im sorry to hear that

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

Hey All,
I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

Is there any advantage to telling a company you are interested in working for in the future where you decided to accept an offer from? Or does it not matter? I accepted an offer a week ago with a great company (Company A) that for this season in my life seems like a great fit and only strengthens what I have to offer company B down the road. Company B just sent me a request for interview and I want to keep the door open with Company B but they were just very late in extending an interview.

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone
knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).
Is it the case here?
Thanks!

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?
