Your new firm won’t call your references until conflicts clear and you give notice.
It’s fine. It’s all part of the job. It’s typically a five minute call.
Well u have to give a reference from an old job i guess
It’s pretty insane to suggest they are going to ask your current firm and risk your status at what I assume is your only security plan if those references come up unsatisfactory
I’m sure the references are fine/ just awkward to ask for them in the first place lol
In my experience they don’t end up calling even when they say they do
I asked my references and they were never called
I listed people I had a good working relationship with who left the firm previously. I had the same reservations as you and nobody expressed disapproval of that approach, plus it gave me an excuse to connect with former colleagues I otherwise wouldn’t have spoken to again
I saw that some people suggested they might not call your referenced. For what it’s worth, they definitely called my references and it was actually before I received the official offer letter
Thanks!!! I’m also relatively new at my current firm (unique situation) and so don’t really know anyone who’s left yet.
I received and offer conditional on conflicts and background check clearing - I assume I won’t be getting another letter after this?
