Every firm is different. Do you have an employee handbook you can refer to? If not, ask whoever manages you. I would try to discuss it soon than later especially if it’s a smaller firm.
My last, small firm required you to be there 1 year and then you got 12 weeks paid. Otherwise, I’m sure they would’ve let someone new use PTO (3 weeks) and unpaid leave.
My firm also requires you to be there for a year but then you get 18 weeks paid with the option of an addition four weeks (I think) that you can take unpaid
Do we think firms ever alter this on the front end if an associate commits to staying at least over a year upon return?
Possibly? If you’ve proven yourself enough for them to want to make that investment.
