How do you balance work obligations and personal life? Often times, I find myself quickly checking emails after dinner with the family. I don't want to have my work define who l am. Any advice?

When you are at work focus on work. When you log off focus on family. Work life balance is so important. Give 100% to each in their given time.

Advice? Don’t check them. When you are done with work, you are done. Nothing a late night email can do that you can’t in the morning. Your family with appreciate it too.

I try not to check emails after hours too, but during very busy times of year I’ll sit down at my computer for a couple hours at night just to stay on top of things.

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

Additional Posts in Insurance

I have been talking to a recruiter for a little over a month about a position. I let her know out the gate that I really wasn’t looking to change jobs, but she just kept wanting to continuing the conversation. I didn’t have 2 interviews with the hiring coming and they know that I am not really looking to make a switch. They are now working on an offer letter and I know they’re going to offer me more money. I’m having my annual review this week. Any advice on how to handle a) job offer b) review?

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?
