As somebody who has always worked with at least a couple of people on a shift who do less than the bare minimum, I don’t like tip pooling at all. Why is it the same reward regardless of the work you do?
The back of the house always makes a higher hourly wage so I do r get they should get a piece of the tips. The rest industry needs to start paying a living wage and tips need to go away.
I think what needs to happen is that businesses be required to pay a living wage so that we aren't reliant on tips. Two groups of people working extremely hard should not be fighting against each other for scraps.
Tips are for the servers/bartenders. If the dishwasher assists the FOH ie ice,glasses,plates… then a few dollars would be appropriate.
