I would appreciate that kick off
If you want to spice it up you could say in your best WWF announcer voice "laaaAIIIIIDES AND GENTLEMENNNN, WELCOME TO TODAYS (fill in meeting title), WE SEEEEEEM TO HAVE QUORUMMMM, LETS GET READY TO RUUUUUUUUUMBLEEEE"
That's great. Don't over think it.
What's up Papi?
"What's good bitches"
I pause on objectives page and ask if the group wants to add anything.
You are missing an opportunity if you don't use the first 2-3 minutes for "warm-up."
How was your weekend?
What's with this rain?
How about team x yesterday?
Who's excited about Game of Thrones (or whatever) this weekend?
How about those clients that require a safety message before every meeting. Gets old real quick. Had to make some bullshit safety public service announcements
I sometimes check if the time we've allocated is still good for everyone or if there are any hard stops. Then outline the points you want to cover and ask if there's anything you've missed
Most meetings have none or fall short in showing purpose
I sometimes appreciate candid meeting openers along the lines of "let's try and figure this shit out cos no one knows what's going on"
You could make any informed safety "suggestion" like "be sure to check windshield wiper fluids as winter is approaching and reduce build up of slush on windshield"
Ask "who's joined?" 15 times
The only other thing you can do is give a brief "catch up" background if it is appropriate. Sometimes we think everyone is coming to the meeting with the same understanding from the last time you spoke and they aren't.
@EY2 is GoT back this weekend??
Maybe you could start with a "why did the chicken cross the road" joke.
Uh, what's that? Are you pointing out the emergency exits?
@Analyst1 - please tell me you have uttered that phrase verbatim in a meeting, and if so, how did that pan out?
Sa1 no it's not back until July. Just an example of something teams bond over.
@EY2 totally agree with you.. it is really helpful to connect with the client
