The boy kept his head down until close to time for the bell to ring. I said, "----, can you stay back a second, I need your help!" He got up and came to the quiet chair by my desk. I asked if he needed to talk. He started talking and poured out his heart. Apparently, he has been being picked on by students in all of his classes, except for mine. He told me he can usually handle it, but he couldn't take it anymore. He had been in the counselors room for 3 class periods, but wanted to come to my class because he feels calm in my classroom. I let him just talk and then walked with him to the cafeteria where 8th grade was having lunch. I went to the counselor and asked if she could keep a check on him through the day. She said to me, "That boys loves and respects you so much. He says that you are the only adult in this building that he feels safe with." By now I am a mess, and she told me that they would let him know that he could come to my classroom anytime he needed to get a break from things. 😠He is such a great kid, and it breaks my heart that he is having such a hard time.
Have you alerted your fellow teachers and admin that this is happening to him? They need to be made aware of it to help end it. It’s great that he came to you, trusts you, and loves you, but the goal should be to make him feel safe anywhere in school.

I informed admin and students services. Sadly a teacher participated in the teasing one day. When he said that it was not acceptable, the teacher told him to go sit down. He reported it and so did I.
That’s all you can do if they don’t open up. Just be supportive

I'm glad that I am an adult he considers to be his safe teacher. But man, I feel the pressure from this one
It's great he feels safe in your class but there needs to be an emergency meeting with his teachers and counselor to share that he is being bullied. He is at risk for suicide.

I promise, I won't be letting go of this. If nothing changes I will be going higher in the food chain. It is not okay for this to happen!
That’s all you can do

I'll be bringing it up in Team Leaders meeting next week.
