Genuine question…why some employees are very adamant about keeping work/life separation? E.g. won’t talk about anything related to updates on personal life, or their thoughts on a any non-religious and apolitical subjects?

Perhaps I’m being naive which is very possible. I have my own theories about why this strict separation is important but I just want to hear or see my suspicions confirmed by others. Thanks in advance!
