If I'm on call, then I feel responsible for responding. But if I'm not on call, I won't respond unless it's totally convenient for me. And I definitely won't respond after 8pm. I think that there are some companies/roles that require more around-the-clock responses, but I know for a fact that none of my work is *that* urgent haha.
If it was a situation where I was on call, I'd be attentive to calls and texts. But if it was just a weekend when I was off, I'd manage not to notice messages from work. In all honesty, I might look at them, but I wouldn't respond and get involved in anything unless it was a legit emergency. It's really not good to let people think there are no boundaries and you're always available.
If you are on call is different . Unless the policy states that u need to respond to messages off the clock I would not do it . I put do not disturb on my notifications on my days off am glad we have that option.
