In the exact same boat! Worked my first job for more than 20 years, leaving my second job after 9 months. Toxic environment, very unhappy staff and way too much liability on my shoulders. I have protected my license for too many years to stay even though I love the medicine.
When asked, “Unfortunately, there were significant differences in philosophy regarding acceptable patient safety and I had to reconsider my participation for ethical and legal reasons.”
I would leave out about the environment being toxic, but a commitment to patient safety that is legitimately ignored is a very good reason to leave.
I was in same situation. I refused to write narcotics for my employers husband in any manner that did not keep my liscense safe. It was a toxic environment to begin with but I did not see the signs because of my upbringing. It did not keep me from getting another job. Evidently they had a known reputation. Additionally I completed therapy to help me to see when its the environment and not my ability. Thus the fact that you were able to quit right away speaks to your logical cognitive funtioning.
I would just be completely honest. Remember that you are interviewing potential employers as much as they are interviewing you. Just explain that after you started, you realized that you were not a good fit for the team and you didn’t want to waste anyone’s time, and resources training you when you had no intention of staying. Personally, I view you leaving prior to the end of on boarding as a bonus. You easily could have stayed and completed training and then left.. with the ability to say you were trained at this prestigious institution. You made the best decision for yourself, and for your employer. Where are you located? My job has a few full time and part time openings!!
DON’T MENTION IT AT ALL!
It is absolutely none of their business that you got a raw deal at the last place. It also paints yourself into a corner that’s difficult to explain out of positively.
The reality of being a PA is that most practices misrepresent themselves in the beginning. It might be unintentional, but it happens.
