How does one get into these contingent worker situations in public accounting? Seeing their bill rates makes me wonder how this is a situation that fully supports them knowing they have a lot of overhead and no advancement possibilities. If you bill at $100 an hour and can somehow be billable for 40 hours a week for 16 weeks, your gross is only $64k. That doesn’t include self employment taxes, insurance and any other expenses.

Hello, I am in USI GES tax at DUSI. I love my job but not my team and mgmt anymore. I'm a performer and I'm dumped with work of 2 ppl while others are searching for work. I am burned out.

I resigned and accepted a job with EY GDS with a huge pay bump that DUSI can't match but I also gave up my potential promotion for 2023.

I've been feeling bad about putting my papers down and letting go off my promotion but I am really tired. I took up this job as an escape.

Thoughts on going from a national firm to a smaller one with ~200 employees and $65M in revenue? I’m a first year tax manager and can get a 33% raise by going to this firm.

If you make it to senior manager at big four can you leave and become partner or director at mid size firm? Is this hard to do? I know there is a lot of politics at big four and have no interest staying in a senior manager role for 6-8 years and risk a chance of still not becoming partner. Also I got a long way to go before senior manager fyi.
