Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

We only go to the office 4 days per month anyway. So this week in DFW when it snowed/sleeted they closed the building and said to work from home. Different departments come on different weeks. My department works in the office on the 2nd week of the month (Mon-Thur). So we were at home during the storms anyway.
Most of us have the option to work from home when the weather gets rough. But our snowstorm is happening tomorrow so my employer will likely think the roads are clean enough to drive on by Monday.

You must be in the mid Atlantic region like I am! I work from home permanently but my husband got told the company is fully operational. Nevermind that it’s gonna freeze over tonight so nothing but black ice will be tomorrow and Tuesday.

If it gets really bad they will tell us to work from home instead of drive in

I’m glad to see companies allowing wfh again.
We are a hybrid company, so we are all set up for remote work anyway. They just tell us to stay home any time driving might be unsafe. I don't envy people who have to go out in snowstorms to work.

Yeah my husband has to drive to work at 6am and they seem to think it’ll magically be better in the morning.
Same here, but my in-office coworkers have more flexibility to work from home when the weathers bad
