Look outside the firm. There's for sure an opening at EY, Deloitte or KPMG. I can't believe that there are zero opening throughout all of PwC. Did you tell them you're open to moving market teams?
Oh I was just asking for my friend who works in RSM..my friend tries to move to NYC but there is no position open for first year associate
You're most likely going to have to wait until you're a senior to transfer to NYC. The firms seems to have to many staff/associates and nothing to do with them. Unless you're moving for a specific reason other than you want to work in NYC, it might be difficult.
First year associate will never happen. The firms hire 100% of first year associates through college campus recruiting or internship. Will be extremely difficult to transfer in as a new associate. Need to wait until at least 1 or 2 years experience to have a chance.
There should be an opening and a good reason. I got lucky as a senior and there was an opening and my wife got a job here. Also helps if you're highly rated. Plus experience helps and being a senior, they need seniors everywhere. Good luck!
Yea my friend's wife is working in NYC so that's why he wants to transfer. Not sure if the firm will be lenient on transferring because of that
The firm only cares about its needs. If they don't have a need, they're not going to shake things around to accommodate an associate. Maybe at a higher level like manager or SM, but certainly not for someone who has just 1 year. Your friend should just try applying B4. They're always looking for people.
