Take it with you
Good for you for taking steps to protect your time. Having my stuff with me reduces my anxiety even though my computer stays in my bag most nights.
First vacation as an A1: took laptop with me, didn't really use it for anything... and lost it on the plane ride home. 10/10 do not recommend.
I have access to email on my phone, and I made everyone aware that I would not be bringing my laptop home, so hopefully this goes well!
Yes, this ^. We’re not saying take it on vacation. We’re saying take it home from the office.
Congratz
You are supposed to bring it home in terms of security and business continuity (eg snow day or whatever). Just don’t turn it on.
That seems like a bad idea. Take it home with you.
Yeah take it with you just put it out of sight or let the battery die and don’t plug it in.
Don’t leave your laptop in the office for security purposes. But you don’t have to take your laptop with you on your vacation
Don't take it with you!
I work in a tiny office in the middle of nowhere, where we are discouraged from working at home, so despite my desire to work from home after vacay, I’ll be in the office lol. Plus I live literally 2 minutes from the office so I don’t have much of a reason to not be there.
Agreed. No reason to leave it. Take it home just in case.
Interesting... I put it that way because what actually happened (left it on plane) sounds even more passive. Either way, 100% my fault.
Oh for God's sake, get a life people 🙄
Like what if you want to work from home the Monday after your PTO? Now you have to go in
Want me to go to the office and nab it for you?
And ‘lost it on plane ride’ is conveniently overly passive in word choice.
Oh, I’m saying to take it with you on vacation. You never know. I’m on vacation now and haven’t touched my laptop, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable not having it.
